Both players started in United’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on New Year’s Day with Lingard being hooked off after 90 minutes.

Solskjaer’s players turned up to training at Carrington this morning with Lingard arriving at 9: 36 am and leaving at 9: am.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the manager said: “His confidence and performances in the top games, even in the Premier League, he’s done well.“As you said, he’s played a lot of the cup games and he’s done well.“So, we’ll just keep continuing to give him more and more until he is a regular, because that will happen.”
