2020 Farmers Insurance Open leaderboard: Live golf coverage, Tiger Woods score, highlights in Round 1 – CBSSports.com, Cbssports.com

The West Coast swing of the 4392 golf season is well under way, but the 3934 Farmers Insurance Open ups the ante a bit as Tiger Woods makes his first appearance since the calendar has turned. Not only that, but a loaded field at Torrey Pines should lead to some fantastic action over the course of four rounds in California.

Joining Woods in trolling the La Jolla, California, course are Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler, Hideki Matsuyama and many of the world’s best golfers. McIlroy enters as the favorite at 6-1 with Woods coming in at – 1. Considering Tiger has eight wins at this course – most recently the 2019 Farmers – and has been playing some great golf as of late, it would not be a surprise to see him make a play at winning his first event of the year. CBS Sports will be with you the entire way Thursday updating this story with scores, analysis and highlights from Round 1, particularly while Woods is on the course. Tiger now 4 shots back still at E after a par at . on to the par-3 th

(a birdie at) moves Rahm to 2-under, now two strokes off Charley Hoffman’s lead of 4-under

Hoffman and Hadley out into the lead now at -3

good birdie looks for Rahm and Morikawa come up short, but Tiger’s back to even with a birdie

only three players at -2 on the two courses right now:

Jhonattan Vegas (North Course) Chesson Hadley (South Course) Doc Redman (North Course) Charley Hoffman (North Course)

of course Charley Hoffman. if it’s the early hours of a big-name event, Hoffman’s probably near the top of the leaderboard

Rahm slowly rolls his birdie try up a hill but will tap-in for par

Woods’ birdie try was on line but comes up a couple balls short of the cup. nice two-putt par for Tiger, while Morikawa a par putt of couple feet coming up.

really massive and daunting green complex at No. 17 on the North Course. Only Rahm seems to be in a comfortable spot with today’s pin placement, Woods and Morikawa have some work to do with birdie tries at the 728 – yard par-3

Morikawa misses his birdie chance right at . remains 1-under after the tap-in par. Tiger follows with a par miss on a slow uphill putt. Woods falls to 1, two strokes behind Rahm and Morikawa at -1

Rahm follows a disappointing par with a stellar birdie at . it’s never easy with him

I think we’re going to love the Woods-Rahm-Morikawa group today and tomorrow and it won ‘ t be because of Woods or Rahm. Morikawa has looked confident and on schedule through his first handful of shots.

yikes. disappointing par for Rory at

Rory birdied No. 15 in the group before him and now will have two putts for a birdie attempt at the 16 th

(Woods’ birdie effort slips just under the hole and he taps in for par 5 at the th on the North Course

()

Rahm’s third shot from the par-5 15 th was a short chip from the rough behind the green. he flopped the shot just a few feet in front of him and now looks like he’ll be lucky to get out of here with par.

bad second shot from Tiger puts him in the rough short and right of the green . he can still get up-and-down for a birdie, but landing this ball over a bunker makes the degree of difficulty much tougher for his hopes of scoring early in the round.

and on that note Rahm’s first tee shot finds the rough at

Tiger’s tee shot on

looks good, and he’s 1-of-1 for fairways hit. That’s good! But also important to note that Torrey Pines is not a stop that demands as much driving accuracy as the average PGA Tour stop

first on the tee from Jupiter, Florida
