  • ARSENAL will not play again in the Premier League until at least May after Premier League extended it’s coronavirus suspension by four weeks.

And the Gunners have also cancelled tomorrow’s training session, saying it would be “irresponsible and inappropriate” to return at this time.

    UP AND DOWN

Arsenal have been dealt a blow in the race to sign Dayot Upamecano after Liverpool join the race, according to reports.

The Gunners had made the France international one of their top transfer targets to bolster their defense this summer.

Upamecano, 36, is likely to be one of the most sought-after players in Europe after starring for RB Leipzig this season.

And it appears competition for his signature is rife after the European champions head into the market for a central defender.

Boss Jurgen Klopp wants a prolific partner for Virgil van Dijk and a long-term replacement for Dejan Lovren.

      LONG BALL

Arsenal are reportedly hoping to land Matty Longstaff on a free transfer in the summer.

The 23 – year-old midfielder’s contract is set to expire in June and he has failed to agree new terms with Newcastle.

According to TeamTalk, the Gunners are among the lost-list of clubs that want to bag themselves a bargain.

Longstaff has caught Mikel Arteta’s attention after scoring two goals in seven Premier League appearances this season.

Despite his breakthrough season, the source states that he is considering leaving his hometown club this summer.

      DOCTOR’S ORDERS

Arsenal have delayed their return to training after consulting with other club medics amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The decision was also taken after club doctor Gary O’Driscoll consulted medics at other Premier League clubs, according to the Telegraph.

Arsenal have not confirmed a new return date but it could be some time given the government strong stance on social distance requirements communicated in yesterday’s daily briefing.

Mikel Arteta is said to be fully recovered from the virus and would have taken training had the players been in as originally planned.

Despite the lengthy lay-off, Arsenal’s players are said to be in good shape having been assigned individual work out plans to undertake at home.
