Momentum gloats about vile banner calling for Tories to be killed in Manchester – Express, Express.co.uk


The huge banner read “130, 000 killed under Tory rule. Time to level the playing field ”and was erected as theConservative PartyConference is being held in the city. Manchester’s Mayor Andy Burnham said the banner would be taken down. Tory Councillor Kerry Boyd posted on Twitter this morning: “Never have I felt more apprehensive than seeing this in my morning run pre #CPC 19. Does this classify as death / terrorist threat? Utterly vile. ”The offensive sign was tweeted out by Manchester Momentum this morning. They tweeted: “Good morning @Conservatives. Welcome to Manchester. ”The tweet was later deleted.

The banner has caused outrage with many people demanding there an investigation and calling it hate speech.

Thousands of people have been protesting in Manchester against the Tories, Brexit and austerity.

The People’s Assembly Against Austerity has organized one part of the protest.

Member of Parliament for Ashton-under-LyneAngela Raynor was spotted protesting in the city center.

A giant effigy of Boris Johnson was also part of the protest, similar to President Donald Trump’s inflated baby blimp.

The inflatable showed Mr Johnson in blue shorts with red hearts and the word “nigel” written on, as well as a t-shirt showing a £ 350 million bus.

Heavy rain did not appear to deter the protesters in the northern city.

The demonstrators blew their whistles and chanted “Tories out” and “ Boris Johnson, shame on you ”as they marched through the city center.

Dominic Raab said at the conference that the UK would leave the EU on October 31 “no ifs, no but *** ”

Michael Gove said:“ While the difficulties caused by leaving without a deal will pass, the damage to our democracy in not getting Brexit done would endure and resound for much longer .

“Our democracy is pr ecious and depends on people trusting us as politicians. ”

Mr Johnson is under fire following his links with the American businesswoman Jennifer Acuri.

The Greater London Authority’s monitoring officer referred the prime minister to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) regarding the allegations.
