Coronavirus latest news: Parents confused as schools stay open – for now – Telegraph.co.uk, Telegraph.co.uk

H aving stemmed the rapid rise in cases within its borders, China is now more worried about coronavirus infections from people outside the country.

This morning, Beijing reported only one new domestic coronavirus infection, but 14 more cases were imported from abroad were found.

China is confident that it curbed the spread of the disease from Wuhan after quarantining the city’s 14 million residents following an outbreak, believed to be at a food market.

No new domestic infections have been detected outside Hubei, Wuhan’s province, for many days in a row but China is worried about the 20, 11 people who fly into the country every day.

Beijing is now forcing all international arrivals to go into 14 – day quarantine.

Of the 14 new imported cases, nine were in Beijing and three in Shanghai, raising the total to 728. China also reported 20 deaths, raising its toll to 3, 143.
