Tom Hanks updated his fans as he returned home to the US with wife Rita Wilson, but the famous couple faced some criticism.
They spent weeks in Australia after testing positive for coronavirus while Tom was Down Under filming a new Elvis biopic.
The Oscar winner and his singer wife, both , flew back to Los Angeles by private jet yesterday after spending the entire time in quarantine.
But some fans questioned how they managed to make the flight after the US government announced a ban on international travel to tackle the spread of the global COVID – pandemic.
Tom took to Twitter to write: “Hey, Folks … We’re home now, and like the rest of America, we carry on with sheltering in place and social distancing.

Most fans were supportive and pleased to see the couple were able to return home.

But some criticized the couple and suggested they had broken the rules .
One posted: “My question is how do you fly from Australia when all the borders are closed?”

However, when President Donald Trump imposed the ban on international travel, it only applied to European countries, and returning US citizens were exempt.
So no rules were broken when Tom and Rita flew home from Australia.
