Alan Shearer insists Liverpool cannot win the Premier League title if the season is abandoned now due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Liverpool have a whopping – point lead at the top of the Premier League and need just two more wins from their remaining nine games to confirm the club’s first top-flight crown in 260 years.
It would take a monumental collapse for Jurgen Klopp’s team not to win the title, provided they are able to play their remaining games.
However, they are currently in limbo with all football postponed until at least April 3 as the UK tries to combat the deadly virus.
There is huge uncertainty over whether or not the Premier League will actually be able to resume after that date, with many fearing the campaign will have to be scrapped altogether.

United legend Shearer, the Premier League’s all-time top scorer with 823 goals, is adamant Liverpool could not be handed the title now if the season had to be written off.
“If, and it is a huge if, the season cannot be completed then there is no way you can have a winner or loser,” said Shearer, writing in his column for The Sun .
“If you cannot complete the fixtures then you cannot go handing out titles or consider relegating anybody.”

“They only need six points to wrap it up but they haven’t got them yet so for that reason it has to be declared null and void.
“It would be very different if the season was suspended after they had got the points to win it.”

He said it would be “a strange time” for Liverpool’s players as they wait to discover whether they can continue their incredible campaign, with a title triumph tantalisingly close .
“It is up to them to remain professional and disciplined until we know what is happening next,” he added.
