Anti-CAA Protests In Jamia, Shaheen Bagh 'By Design, Not Coincidence': PM – NDTV News, Ndtv.com

PM Narendra Modi addressed people at Delhi today. The assembly election will be held on Saturday

New Delhi:

The controversy over BJP leaders’ hate speeches against anti-CAA protesters yet to abate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today tagged the protests “anarchy” and sought Delhi’s mandate to stop it. Accusing Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress of engineering the protests, he said the two parties are playing politics of appeasement. “Hiding behind the constitution and the national flag, they are giving lectures,” he said at a rally days before the assembly elections.

Delhi has spearheaded the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Inspired by the women’s protests at Shaheen Bagh – which headlined across the world – woman in various cities have hit the streets.

The Prime Minister today questioned if these protests were a “coincidence” .

“Whether it is Seelampur, Jamia or Shaheen Bagh, there have been multiple protests against the CAA. Do you think these protests are a coincidence? It is not. It is all an experiment rooted in politics. If it was simply about a law, it would have ended, “PM Modi said.

Pointing to the Shaheen Bagh protests that had blocked an arterial road for weeks, PM Modi said, “” If their game plan is not stopped, they will block another road or gully tomorrow. We can’t let them spread anarchy. Your vote has the power to put a stop to this “.

The Prime Minister’s comments come days after a string of hate speeches from his ministers and party leaders. Last Monday, Union Minister Anurag Thakur Was caught on camera at a rally in northwest Delhi, egging on a crowd to chant a slogan that calls for gunning down “traitors”.

A day later, party MP Parvesh Verma said: ” Lakhs of people gather there (Shaheen Bagh). They will enter your houses, rape your sisters and daughters, kill them. There’s time today … Modi-ji and Amit Shah won’t come to save you tomorrow.

Yesterday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP’s star campaigner Yogi Adityanath also have his approval to Using bullets to deal with dissenters.

Accusing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of “supplying biryani to those protesting in Shaheen Bagh and elsewhere in the city,” Yogi Adityanath said since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, “We have been identifying every terrorist and feeding them goli (bullets) instead of biryani.”
