In the past, whenever there was a film that had an entirely female cast, many people automatically assumed there to be drama behind the scenes.
We have gotten so used to hearing about two or more women not being able to be in the same room together let alonedevelop friendships off-screen.
However, when it comes tothe cast ofHustlers, their on-screen friendships translated to real-life and their dynamic relationship is continuing to go strong.
Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu have a solid friendship
Even though there is usually hefty competition within the film industry, the friendships some of these actors establish with their co-stars is something not many people expect.
Many of us have assumed that some actors just aren’t interested in developing a friendship when the cameras aren’t rolling, but the cast ofHustlersis showing us that that isn’t always the case.
The new film follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to scam their Wall Street clients.
In the film, the main characters lean on each other as they take on this risky task and it has recently been revealed that the actors even do so in real life.
In a recent interview withRefinary 29during the Toronto International Film Festival, Jennifer Lopez, who plays Ramona in the film, opened up about her relationship with her castmates, especially Constance Wu, and shared that their bond is practically unbreakable.
“The minute I saw Constance, I put my arms out and took her under my wing and put her in my coat like,‘ I got you. ‘”Lopez shared. “I said,‘ I’m going to take care of you and I’m going to show you the ropes. ‘”
EvenHustlersdirector, Lorene Scafaria, is in an agreeance with this and said Lopez and Wu’s connection onscreen was the real deal from the beginning. “Constance and Jennifer just had that big sister / little sister chemistry right out of the gate.”

Lopez then added, “We didn’t know where Ramona and Jennifer and Destiny and Constance ended. Now we have this relationship where it’s exactly that – we love each other and we take care of each other. ”
To which Wu – who was running late to the red carpet – called out three words that perfectly sum up her friendship with Lopez: “She’s the best!”
The entire cast developed a strong bond
Though Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu developed a strong friendship while filmingHustlers, it turns out that the entire cast considers each other friends.
Although the film was shot in under a month, that was more than enough time for the cast and crew to establish such solid bonds with one another that they now consider each other more like sisters.

“We had 29 days to shoot, so I think we all just had to get as close as possible in order to pull it off, ”Scafaria said. “I like to think of myself as the mom and that they’re all like sisters.”
The cast’s close friendship was on full display at the film’s TIFF red carpet with each of them exchanging lots of hugs and speaking highly of all the fun they had working on set.
Mette Towley, the actress who plays Justice in the film, said it was hard to keep a straight face during her scene with Lizzo and Cardi B due to their humorous nature. “There were a lot of jokes, especially during that scene,” she said laughing. “When you have Lizzo, J.Lo, Cardi, Keke, everyone in a room together… Everyone’s line was a mic drop!”
Madeline Brewer, who plays Dawn, pointed out that everyone’s energy on set was infectious and she felt embraced by everyone even though she didn’t have a main role.
“Jen very much created a safe environment so even though I’m not even in the mix of the four girls, I still felt that vibe,” Brewer said. “From the get-go, it was a very,verysupportive set. ”
As one can easily see, there was no drama what so ever between these cast members.
Instead, the cast ofHustlersestablished an incredible bond that will most likely continue on for many years to come!
