The 27 – year-old appeared to be on the road to redemption when his name was cheered when it was announced pregame.
He was also given a warm applause when it looked like he might have went off due to an injury.

One said: ‘They literally don’t give as ***.’
While one wrote: ‘Any hopes for Xhaka staying are surely gone with him looking chirpy after the final whistle.
‘Professional pride be damned with our players.’
Xhaka’s apparent indiscretion may go largely unnotcied as it is likely yet another poor performance from his teammates will grab the headlines – and heap the pressure on boss Unai Emery.
His team remain top of Group F and on course for the knockout rounds but this defeat served only to extend a winless run to seven games and leave the beleaguered Spaniard on the brink.
