Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira insists he’s ‘fine’ despite being stretchered off with a nasty looking ankle injury in the Gunners’ win against Portsmouth.

The Uruguayan lasted just fifteen minutes on the south coast and was replaced by Dani Ceballos after Portsmouth ace James Bolton followed through in a tackle to leave Torreira in a heap.

Torreira was stretchered off and the manner of his exit concerned supporters, who feared he could be ruled out for the remainder of the season.

But Torreira has allayed those fears and hinted he could make a quick return, despite leaving Fratton Park on crutches.

‘I wanted to tap it and grabbed my ankle on the outside,’ Torreira told ESPN.

‘It twisted me, but I can move it. I’m fine ’.

Arsenal were underwhelming during the first half but grabbed a goal in stoppage time through Sokratis to give the visitors the lead.

Arteta clearly had a word with his players at half-time and the Gunners emerged far stronger after the break and sealed their path through to the next round when Eddie Nketiah bundled home on the hour mark.
