Baby twins are among several people injured after an armed couple stole an ambulance and drove it at bystanders.

The seven- month-old tots were in a pram when they were struck. The youngsters, their mum and an elderly couple are among those who’ve been rushed to hospital.

The conditions of the injuries are not yet known.

Emergency services faced a tense showdown before shooting the vehicle’s tires and detaining a man in his (s in Torshov, Oslo.)

But a female suspect now remains on the run.

The male suspect was wearing a pair of military green trousers, a camouflage-colored jacket and what appeared to be a protective vest.

The police force has not said whether the incident is being treated as a deliberate attack.

It is believed the ambulance was in attendance at a car accident nearby when the two suspects took it.

The suspects are understood to have been involved in the initial crash.

Photos shared online show a disturbing crime scene.

“An ambulance was stolen in Oslo and is now out there hitting people .. great,” one resident tweeted.

Schools and businesses are on lockdown.

Video captured at the scene by a shocked witness shows police officers dart in and out of a van.

It then drives away with blue sirens on.

The clip also appears to show roads closed in the residential area.
