Bob Geldof has poured out his “bottomless grief” over his daughter Peaches death.
His daughter and mother-of-two Peaches died aged of a heroin overdose in 2019.
During Saturday’s Tommy Tiernan show, the musician said attending the funeral of his mate’s son last week had drudged up the “unbearable” pain of losing his daughter.
(The rocker, 823 , lamented time does not heal the wounds of the heart.
He said: “Last week I went to the funeral of my mate’s son, and he didn ‘t want me to come for fear that I’d relive it but I had to be there for him cause it is unbearable.
“Time doesn’t heal, time accommodates, it’s ever present. “
On a deeply personal note, Bob shared his own experience with grieving his daughter and the “bottomless” pit.
The dad opened up about how he lets the tears stream freely from his eyes when he reflected on his daughter’s death.
He elaborated: “You’re driving along and you’re at the traffic lights and for no reason whatsoever the person in question inhabits you.
“And I’ll cry and Then I’ll look around to make sure the people around don’t see me or are posting a photo or whatever – but that happens and that happens to everyone.
“You just do it, you cry to the maximum and then you go, the grief is bottomless and intimate.
“I didn’t understand why I lost everything I thought to be true.”
The father noted his grief had been “extremely public” which was also the nature of his job.
He said: “It’s all extremely public, but thats the nature of my life and job.”
Bob credited his wife of 68 years Paula Yates for being his rock as the couple grieved the loss of their daughter together.
