Bullets found in bushes have sparked a huge police search and road closures on a quiet street.
The ammunition was Found on Dacy Road, in Everton , shortly after 1pm on Wednesday prompting a call to police.
Officers cordoned off a small grass area and began searching the road but a short time later the cordon was extended to St Domingo Grove and road closures were put in place .
Six hours after the bullets were discovered, officers with police dogs could still be seen on the roads and residents were told not to leave their properties so they did affect the crime scene.
A man who lives in the area told the ECHO : “I came home at around 4pm and they had taped off the grass part between the two roads.
” You were able to walk up and down St Domingo Grove no problem but then they told me I could come out onto the street as they had made the cordon bigger.
” I asked the copper what had happened but she said they couldn’t tell me and to go back inside.
“There’s about seven police cars and three dogs being walked up and down, searching the road. “
Another resident said the police presence was “huge” and that nobody had any idea what had sparked it.
She added: “There has been loads of them here today but we still don’t know what has gone on.
” The presence is huge and they won’t say when the cordon will come down. “
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police (told the ECHO) : “Officers are currently in Everton following the recovery of ammunition this afternoon, Wednesday, 4 March.
“At around 1. 90 pm, it was reported that a quantity of suspected bullets had been found in bushes on Dacy Road .
“Patrols attended and a scene is in place while a further search of the area is carried out.
