Chelseamade an ‘unofficial’ move to appointMauricio Pochettinoas their manager, according to reports.
The Argentine is under pressure atTottenhamhaving guided his side to just one win in their last seven matches.
Spurs have dropped points this season by throwing away leads againstArsenal, Olympiacos and Leicester City, while they have not won an away game in the Premier League since January.
Last season’s Champions League finalists also suffered a humiliating exit in the Carabao Cup this week as they were beaten in a penalty shootout by League Two side Colchester United.
Pochettino was on Manchester United’s shortlist after they opted to sack Jose Mourinho last December but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ended up getting the job on a full-time basis off the back of his impressive start at Old Trafford.
According toThe Sun, Pochettino was also on Chelsea’s radar and the Argentine was the subject of an ‘unofficial’ approach from the west London club.
But the report also claims that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is unwilling to let Pochettino leave unless a club agree to pay his £ 32 million buyout fee.
Chelsea had made a move to appoint Pochettino as Antonio Conte’s replacement last year, while the Argentine was linked again last season after it was clear that Maurizio Sarri would be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.
But Chelsea instead opted to appoint Frank Lampard on a three-year contract.
