Chris Hugheshit out at Katie Hopkins as his girlfriendJesy Nelsonopened up about her suicide attempt.
In her heartbreaking BBC Three documentary Odd One Out, the Little Mix star details how she tried to take her own life after being repeatedly targeted by online trolls.
But it was after a comeback performance onX Factor (in November) that the pain got too much for her.
Jesy says she’d “starved” herself for a week ahead of the band’s appearance on the show and that she didn’t care how well it went, all she wanted was for people to say she looked good after losing weight.
But the following day, she discovered the vile things controversial Apprentice andCelebrityBig Brotherstar Hopkins had said about her online.
She had tweeted: “Packet Mix have still got a chubber in their ranks. Less Little Mix. More Pick n Mix.”
Jesy says that this led to a “pinnacle point” where she spiralled out of control and tried to end her life.
Speaking about the Hopkins tweet, she said: “All I remember feeling at that time is what’s the f *** ing point.
” I’ve starved myself for a week and I’m still getting called fat. I could be the skinniest girl in the world and this is never going to go away.
“That is the pinnacle point for me when I got severely depressed and it just spiralled out of control.”
As it aired on BBC One tonight, Chris tweeted Hopkins calling her a “b *** h” and sending a middle finger emoji.
However , he soon changed his mind and deleted the post.
He’s not the only one who was upset by Hopkins’ comments.
One viewer said onTwitter: “as the mother of two teenage girls myself, @KTHopkins I sincerely hope your daughter NEVER experiences the evil and that you forced upon another beautiful human. Shame on you!”
