CLEVELAND – TheCleveland Brownsare leading the Seattle Seahawks 20 – 12.

Cleveland kicked off against Seattle at 1 p.m. Sunday in FirstEnergy Stadium. Seattle won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half.

The Browns started off strong. Running back Dontrell Hilliard returned the ball to the Seattle 23 – yard line on the opening kickoff . Then, running back Nick Chubb scored a touchdown on a 7 yard run. The Browns led Seattle 7-0.

Then Seattle put points on the board when running back Russell Wilson rushed 16 yards for goal. Placekicker Jason Myers missed the kick and the Browns still had a 7-6 lead over the Seahawks.

Cleveland grew their lead over Seattle when quarterback Baker Mayfieldtook off with the middle of the field wide open to get his first rushing touchdown of the season and his career.The score was 14 – 6 at this point.

The Browns were first to score in the second quarter when tight end Ricky Seals-Jones scored a touchdown on a 31 – yard pass from Mayfield. Placekicker Austin Seibert missed the extra point. Cleveland led Seattle 20 – 6.

Seattle then added a 38 – yard field goal, kicked by Myers, to cut the Browns’ lead. The score was then 20 – 6.

Then Myers kicked a 20 – yard field goal, raising the score 20 – 12.

The Browns are looking for a win after getting roughed up by the San Francisco 49 ers on Monday Night Football. If Cleveland wins Sunday, it would be their first home victory of the 2019 season.

The Seahawks (4-1) are one of the top teams in the NFC and have a talented pool of players, including one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

However, head coach Freddie Kitchens said his guys are ready to take on the Seahawks.

“I thought we had a good week of preparation. We had a good, crisp Friday. I think our guys are focused and ready for a challenge, ”said Kitchens.

T.J. Carrie and Terrance Mitchell will continue to start at cornerback for Williams and Ward.

WR Rashard Higgins is active for the first time since he sustained a knee injury Week 1 against the Titans.
