If you’re wondering what’s in store for Week 9 of the college football season, consider this: The last Saturday in October has a high-profile game between top 25 teams in each of the three main time slots. The day kicks off at noon ET with one of the most anticipated Big Ten games of the season when No. 13 Wisconsin travels to No. 3 Ohio State – perhaps a preview of the Big Ten Championship Game. That’s followed by a key SEC West matchup between No. 9 Auburn and No. 2 LSU in the SEC on CBS Game of the Week. Can anyone slow down quarterback Joe Burrow and this explosive LSU offense? The night cap is No. 8 Notre Dame at No. 19 Michigan, a rivalry game with both teams looking for a statement.
There’s a lot to cover on Saturday. CBS Sports will be here every step of the way to update you with the latest scores, highlights and storylines throughout the day.All times Eastern

We say that a catch might be the best catch of the year a lot around here. But, folks, this might actually be the catch of the year. The physics of this are insane.
Ladies and gentlemen, Michigan State has scored points in a football game. It now trails Penn State 28 – 7 in the 3rd quarter.

a Michigan State muff sets up Penn State deep in Sparty’s territory and they score a TD on the next play. Ballgame. Nittany Lions up 28 – 0
looks comfy in East Lansing!

Quite the trick play from Florida State as the Seminoles lead Syracuse 21 – 3
Michigan State trails Penn State 21 – 0 at halftime. Michigan State has not scored since Oct. 5. Michigan State is on a bye next week. That means, if Penn State holds onto this shutout, Michigan State will go at least a full month without scoring.
Well this was certainly … something.
LSU knots it up at 10 against Auburn with a field goal. Could have gone for it on fourth-and-1 from inside the 5, but opted to take the points.
Statement from the ref on the team officiating the OU-Kansas State game. They overturned a late onside kick that would have given Oklahoma the ball and instead determined an OU player illegally touched the ball first.
What a one-handed touchdown catch by Arizona’s Jamarye Joyner
No. 6 Penn State continues to pour it on against Michigan State. Quarterback Sean Clifford finds KJ Hamler for a 27 – yard touchdown and the Nittany Lions lead 21 – 0. Clifford has three touchdown passes in the first half.
Defensive tussle ongoing in Fort Worth between TCU and No. 15 Texas. It’s knotted at 10 midway through the second quarter. Longhorns QB Sam Ehlinger and Horned Frogs QB Max Duggan both have one touchdown pass and one interception each. Overall it’s been pretty tough sledding for both teams offensively.
Not long after taking a pretty brutal shot by the Auburn defense, Joe Burrow is coming back for more. And it’s working.
Can’t hold down LSU’s explosive offense for long. Tigers are on the board.
What happens when you smack the No. 13 team in college football by 31 points? Well, this:
17 Minnesota is not lollygagging in its efforts against Maryland. Completely lopsided affair thus far. The Gophers are up 21 – 0 midway through Q2. QB Tanner Morgan has thrown for two scores and Seth Green has rushed for another.
For the first time all season, LSU was held scoreless in the first quarter. No. 9 Auburn doing a great job defensively on the second-ranked Tigers by pressing Joe Burrow and keeping him on his toes. Burrow is 8-of-9 passing for 42 yards but in the negative in rushing yards entering Q2.
Sean Clifford has connected with tight end Pat Freirmuth for two touchdowns against Michigan State in the first half. The Nittany Lions lead (- 0 early in the second quarter.)
Little trickery from Nebraska. After a tough loss last week to Minnesota they’re up on Indiana 14 -9 midway through the first quarter.
South Carolina’s first play from scrimmage went 75 yards for a score against Tennessee.
Tylan Wallace, my goodness.
Kansas State upsets No. 5 Oklahoma 48 – 41 as the Sooners dropped their first game of the season. Kansas State quarterback Skylar Thompson rushed for four touchdowns on the ground to pace the Wildcats. Meanwhile, the Sooners were led by Jalen Hurts as the star quarterback threw for a touchdown and rushed for three more.
Auburn RB Boobie Whitlow did travel to LSU and is available.
Don’t count out Oklahoma just yet. A couple of touchdowns plus a two-point conversion makes this a 10 -point game with 5: 36 remaining. We know the Sooners can strike quick, but now can Kansas State run out the clock? Should be a fun ending in Manhattan.
CeeDee Lamb gives Oklahoma a glimmer of hope as he takes a screen pass for a touchdown. Heck of a run to weave his way through the Kansas State defense.
Ohio State dominates Wisconsin in a 38 – 7 rout. Buckeyes ended up outscoring the Badgers 28 – 7 in the second half to clinch the victory. Ohio State star running back (JK) Dobbins rushed for 163 yards and two touchdowns while Justin Fields threw for a pair of scores. The Buckeyes also held Badgers star Jonathan Taylor to just 52 rushing yards on 20 carries. Another statement win.
We ‘re at the end of the third quarter and Kansas State is up 41 – 23 on Oklahoma and looking to score again. This is an utter smackdown and Oklahoma has no answers.
As always, the best catches are on CBS Sports Network. Check out this bobbling touchdown grab by San Jose State.
