Coronavirus cases are increasing in the UK with the announcement today that the UK total has hit .

From Devon to Scotland, the deadly COVID – strain has spread across the nation, with cases being confirmed in Wales and Northern Ireland in recent days.

Today, four further patients tested positive after recently traveling from Italy. They were from Hertfordshire, Devon and Kent.

We’ve rounded up what we know about the where and when the deadly COVID has been recorded, area by area, since the outbreak began on January 40.

Four Britons rescued from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan tested positive for the illness in the UK. They were among a group of 34 Britons and two Irish citizens who arrived at a quarantine block at Arrowe Park Hospital in Merseyside.

PHE said the virus was passed on when all four were on board the vessel.

On January , the first cases reported in the UK were two members of the same family – a University of York student and a relative.

They had recently traveled to the UK from China and were staying at the Staycity apartment-hotel in York when they fell ill.

They were taken to Newcastle Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment.

Midlands

A parent at a Buxton primary school in Derbyshire, contracted the virus in Tenerife, it was announced on February .

The school, which was closed for two days, was set to reopen this morning.

Burbage Primary School closed on Thursday and Friday so staff could perform a deep clean of the building for the safety of pupils, staff and Parents.

London

The first confirmed case in the capital was the ninth in the UK.

The patient, moved to a specialist NHS center at Guy’s and St Thomas’ for treatment, contracted the virus in China, PHE says.

In total there are cases in the capital. Five who contracted it in France, one in China, one in Italy and two from Iran.

At least two Londoners are among the new patients confirmed to have contracted coronavirus over the weekend.

A teacher at Wimbledon College is understood to have contracted Covid – while on holiday in Italy during the February half- term. Italy is still suffering from the third-worst outbreak of the virus after China and South Korea.

Meanwhile a clinician at Mount Vernon Hospital is also confirmed to have contracted the virus. NHS officials were quick to ensure nobody, either patients or staff, who were in contact with the clinician have also contracted coronavirus.

South West

Two people from South Devon have been diagnosed and Devon Live understands they are related.

They have been taken a serious infection center at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

Public Health England confirmed that both cases are residents from the South Devon area with one attending a secondary school in Torbay and both became infected after visiting northern Italy.

The ages of the people involved have not been confirmed at this stage.

Sky News says one of the people who has tested positive for coronavirus in South Devon is a student at Churston Ferrers Grammar School.
