NEW DELHI: In a massive surge in fresh cases led by 315 in Maharashtra and (in Tamil Nadu, new coronavirus infections were reported in the country on Tuesday – nearly double the previous day’s number – taking the total number of cases detected in India galloping to 1, .
The number of deaths among
Covid – cases too rose by nine to 52 so far. As many as 728 new cases have been reported in the past three days , accounting for nearly 30% of all cases so far.

“Migration of large number of laborers working in cities was triggered by panic created by fake news that the lockdown would continue for more than three months. Such panic driven migration has caused untold suffering to those who believed and acted on such news. In fact, some have lost their lives in the process. It is, therefore, not possible for us to overlook this menace of fake news either by electronic, print or social media, “the court added.

The Center on Tuesday informed the Supreme Court that there is a possibility that 3 out of persons moving from cities to rural areas are carrying the coronavirus.
Solicitor general Tushar Mehta told a bench of CJI SA Bobde and Justice L Nageswar Rao that so far lakh persons have been screened at airports and seaports. As many as 3.5 lakh persons are being monitored, he said.
