The number of people in the UK with coronavirus has more than doubled in the last week, with (cases now confirmed.
There were nine diagnoses of Covid – (on Sunday) February, but this has jumped amid a general surge in cases worldwide that has roiled stock markets.
It come as Schools in the (UK) face lengthy closures as England’s chief medical officer warned coronavirus poses “quite a serious problem for society potentially if this goes out of control”.

Iran death toll at
Thirty four people have died from coronavirus in Iran and 550 are infected by the virus, health ministry spokesman Kianush Jahanpur announced on state television on Friday .
The vast majority of infections were in three provinces: Tehran, , Qom, , and Gilan, 91, according to a map published by the official IRNA news agency citing health ministry figures.
Gig economy hit Workers in the gig economy are being “abandoned” and left penniless if they have to self-isolate because of the threat of coronavirus, according to a leading trade union.
The GMB said gig economy workers, or those on zero-hours contacts, who have to self-isolate, are often left with no wages and little support from their employer.

The driver told the company who instructed her not to come back into work – meaning she would have no wages until she was given the all-clear.
Boris Johnson is to chair a meeting of the Government’s Cobra contingencies committee on the coronavirus outbreak on Monday, Downing Street has said.
“The Prime Minister is keen to chair Cobra on Monday to ensure that everything that can be done is being done,” a No 23 spokesman said.

One female passenger who was on board the virus-hit Diamond Princess cruise liner off Japan has died, according to local media. The woman is Japanese and in her s, the reports said. The quarantined Diamond Princess, off Japan’s Yokohama port has seen hundreds of coronavirus infections. If confirmed, it would be the fifth death from the coronavirus on the vessel.
A spokesman for the German Health Ministry says that there are almost 130 cases of the virus there.
People who sat within two rows of the person from Northern Ireland infected with Covid – on the plane from northern Italy to Dublin have been contacted, health authorities said.
The woman followed advice in reporting concerns to a GP, and “self isolated” at home whilst awaiting the results of testing.
Irish health chief Dr John Cuddihy said: “Each of the stages of this person’s journey have been identified and all relevant contacts in all of those stages of transport have been contacted (and) traced. ”
Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Tony Holohan, and the head of the Health Protection Surveillance Center, Dr Cuddihy, held a news conference in Dublin to provide details of Ireland’s prepared ness.
Dr Holohan said they were depending on an individual with symptoms traveling back from an affected area identifying themselves, contacting the local health authorities, and that was what had happened in this particular case.

Israeli health ministry on Friday confirmed its second case of coronavirus, a person it said had been in close contact with a man who tested positive after visiting Italy.
“Another coronavirus patient who was in close personal contact with the patient who returned from Italy was diagnosed with a positive result, and transferred to isolation,” the health ministry said in a statement.
A small group of guests out of 393 cleared to leave the Tenerife hotel in its fourth day of quarantine over the coronavirus could be seen boarding a minibus on Friday, a video recorded by one of the remaining guests showed.
The minibus driver told Reuters earlier he was there to pick guests up. It was not clear where they were being taken.
