The UAE announced on Thursday it will donate coronavirus testing kits worth $10 million (Dh36.7 million) to the World Health Organization.

The kits will enable the testing of 500,000 people for COVID-19.

The donation comes in support of international efforts to contain the spread of the virus and in light of the lack of testing kits in many countries.

As part of its response to the COVID-19 crisis, the UAE has so far provided more than 714 tonnes of medical aid to 63 countries.
