Cristiano Ronaldo‘ s sister reacted furiously to a joke made byLiverpooldefender Virgil van Dijk.Lionel Messiwon the Ballon d’Or on Monday night, beating out the pair. Katia Aveiro was incensed by a light-hearted comment from Van Dijk at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony. Speaking after losing out to Messi, Van Dijk was asked about why Ronaldo was not there.
The Portuguese winger had prioritized going to the Gran Gala del Calico award ceremony to receive his ‘Best Player in Serie A’ and ‘Best Forward’ awards.
Van Dijk, on the other hand, was in attendance alongside Messi. The defender came second to Messi but one place ahead of Ronaldo.
Upon arriving at the ceremony, the Liverpool star was asked if Ronaldo’s absence meant he had one less rival to compete with.
Van Dijk’s reply – albeit sarcastic – was to say: “Was he a rival then?”

This didn’t go down well at all with Aveiro, who launched into a tirade on Instagram attacking the Dutchman.
Writing in a long-winded post, the Juventus forward’s sister took aim at Van Dijk’s trophy haul compared to Ronaldo’s.
“Now, dear Virgil, where you are going, Cristiano Ronaldo has gone and has come a thousand times, ”she wrote.
“ You see, my dear Virgil , that Cristiano Ronaldo was a tri-champion in the country where you have been playing for years and you still haven’t got your hand in the can. Cristiano Ronaldo was even the best player and best scorer in the country where you play Virgil. By the way, I was even younger than you.
