Danny Welbeck was jeered by Tottenham fans after picking up an injury in Watford’s Premier League clash.
Former England andArsenalstriker Welbeck started for the Hornets as they sought their first win of the season so far.
But he went down injured after just 55 seconds after appearing to tweak his hamstring with nobody around him.
Welbeck clutched his hamstring and immediately signalled for treatment.
Tottenham fans were criticized for their antics, with many hitting out at the ‘lack of class’ on show.
Watford did take the lead in the clash though as Abdoulaye Doucoure struck early on.
Welbeck’s career has been plagued by injuries before he completed a free transfer to Watford in the summer.
He has started his side’s last three matches in the absence of skipper Troy Deeney after scoring in the Carabao Cup against Swansea.
Speaking last month, Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores tipped Welbeck to get back to his best for the club .
“I think when Watford signed this player they were thinking of him as this kind of player, the player he was two years ago,” said Flores.
“He loves football, he loves to play, he wants to play. So all we have to do is to try and recuperate him physically and mentally.
“I remember him [from my first spell at Watford four years ago]. He was a threat every time and when he took the ball I was like: ‘Wow! We need to close him down ‘. ”
