The center-back, a new arrival at the Emirates this season, believes the club are good enough to compete for trophies – including the title – and is optimistic that Arsenal are going in the right direction under Unai Emery.

‘For me, if you start something, and we’ve just started the Premier League and all of the competitions, if you don’t think you can win the competition then you won ‘t start anything in your life,’ he toldNBC Sports.

‘I want to win titles with Arsenal. I want to improve and adapt myself for the style of Arsenal, as a club and how the manager wants us to play. I think we can do that together. ‘

Liverpool have won all eight games so far this under Jurgen Klopp, but head to Manchester United on Sunday – a game Luiz and co will be keeping an eye on.

The Gunners will travel to Bramall Lane on Monday night to play Sheffield United away, a must-win game if they are to maintain pressure on the top two.
