Channel 4’s dark new dramaDeadwater Fellpremiered tonight (January 20) and viewers found one particular aspect rather distracting.
The fictional series – about two families in a small Scottish village torn apart by a tragedy when a woman and her three kids are killed in a house fire – does however take a little inspiration from real-life crime dramaThe Staircase.
Over on Twitter, people pointed out the resuscitation techniques of the Kendrick family’s neighbors, as they tried to revive Tom (played by David Tennant) and Kate (Anna Madeley) after they were both pulled out of their burning house.

One individual wrote: “Watching #DeadwaterFell and just witnessed the worlds most terrible chest compressions. Someone tell #casualty they’ve lost their crown! [sic]”
“THAT IS THE WORST CPR I HAVE EVER SEEN,” raged another tweeter.
Soon, many more viewers began mentioning the poor helpers’ CPR skills.
But aside from the acting in this scene, most viewers on Twitter seemed more than happy with the opening episode.
With three more episodes to go, settle in for three weeks of jaw-dropping revelations as the Kendrick investigation continues.
