“This series from deadmau5 is the first set of digital collectibles under the new brand name RAREZ and includes rare and authentic digital collectibles for the emerging virtual music industry. Because NFTs trade on the blockchain, each deadmau5 collectible is 100% verifiable as authentic,” said the release.

The sale of RAREZ will open at 5 pm UTC on December 16.

As Decrypt has explained, unlike “common” crypto tokens, NFTs contain identifying information recorded in their smart contracts. This data makes each NFT different and unique—and that is what makes them not interchangeable and scarce.

Deadmau5’s collection will be offered in form of two limited sets of packs, “Standard” (4,000 available in total) for $9.99 and “Mega” (2,000) for $28.49, each containing 10 or 30 digital items, respectively. Thus, a total of roughly $96,940 worth of packs will be put on sale.

Inside the packs, users will find an assortment of random NFTs—from “Common” to “Very Rare”—such as stickers and pins as well as black, silver, and gold Deadmau5-themed cards.

“The special edition collectibles feature creative content from deadmau5’s recent shows as well as video clips, his collectible pins plus an ‘UltraRare’ piece of collaborative artwork by renowned 3D designer Sutu Eats Flies, who has previously worked with The Weeknd, John Legend, Pnau, Safia and many others,” WAX explained.

The company added that Deadmau5’s packs will be available for purchase for both fiat and cryptocurrencies. Buyers will then be able to trade them with others or showcase their collections on various WAX marketplaces and social media.

The NFT market continues to thrive. Just last week, a cryptocurrency artist became the first to earn $1 million while 17-year-old designer Fewocious sold one of her crypto artworks for $21,350. And one investor recently managed to buy a major NFT collection just in time.
