Felicity Huffman’s sentencing gives prosecutors a crucial win as they seek prison sentences for other parents charged in the historic case. USA TODAY
Felicity Huffman did not get a warm welcome at the Emmys.
The Emmy award-winning actress –who was sentenced to 14 days behind bars for her involvement in the college admissions scandal– was on the receiving end of a dig at the Primetime Emmy Awards at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater Sunday.
After “RuPaul’s Drag Race” host RuPaul finished his acceptance speech, winning a statuette for Outstanding Competition Program, comedian Thomas Lennon, who provided commentary throughout the night, delivered a burn.
“The producers have asked me to give a special shout-out to any of our previous lead actress winners who are watching tonight from prison,” Lennon said with a smirk as the star-studded audience erupted in laughter. “Hopefully those two weeks are going to fly right by. Keep your chin up.”

Although Lennon didn’t name Huffman, the list of Emmy Award-winning actresses set to serve a two-week prison sentence is rather short, and social media users instantly picked up on the joke’s target.
“I’m hollering at this commentator dragging felicity huffman ‘… to any actresses watching from prison, chin up, those two weeks will fly by’ #Emmys,” @TanujaAnnetweeted, while @Jeffurry 312addedthat Lennon’s “Felicity Huffman joke was killer.”
Huffman won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2005 for her role of Lynette Scavo on” Desperate Housewives. “

The actress was the first parent sentenced in the nation’s college admissions scandal on Sept. 13. In addition to prison time, a federal judge also sentenced Huffman to a $ 30, 00 0 fine, supervised release for one year and 250 hours of community service for paying $ 15, 00 0 to have someone correct answers on the SAT exam of her oldest daughter, Sophia.
In a prepared statement, Huffman said, “I accept the court’s decision today without reservation. I have always been prepared to accept whatever punishment Judge Talwani imposed.”
In May, she pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.
Huffman and husband, actor William H. Macy, didn’t attend the Emmys Sunday as she prepares to start her prison sentence on Oct. 25
