****************** BRUSSELS is plotting to keep the UK tied to the EU by blocking Brexit past 2021 citing jubilant Prime Minster Boris Johnson’s snappy timeline is not realistic enough for them to allow Britain to leave.

She added that since Mr Johnson has already said no to another extension period, “what will matter above all is that we work very quickly and precisely”. New European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen echoed Mrs Merkel’s new sentiment on the matter. She said a one-year trade deal timetable was “challenging”.

The news comes as it was revealed the EU will unleash a flurry of red lines within the next month, as Brussels prepares to bully Mr Johnson into compromising on a trade deal during

Mr Johnson’s thumping victory was initially greeted with statements of relief among EU leaders at a European summit yesterday.

However, the well wishes did not last long as leaders like Mrs Merkel and Emmanuel Macron revealed the hardline approach that Boris Johnson will have to deal with next year.
