Just a thought – the ‘who is the hardest manager in the Premier League’ question has totally changed over the last few days. Previously I’d have said Sean Dyche but Duncan Ferguson and Nigel Pearson are now my leading contenders.

Well I take it you’ve heard that Everton have received over 100 applications for the vacancy. So that’ll be Mark Hughes, Alan Pardew, Tim Sherwood and Fred The Weatherman.

Roger: I have high regard for Carlo Ancelotti and I wonder whether he would consider the job and saving Everton. This season would be a rescue operation but with more astute moves in the market a first class new manager might be more optimistic about next season.

James: If Arsenal are serious about being considered a top club again they need to go for Carlo Ancelotti. Born winner and desperate to return to the best league in the world. As for Everton, Rafa Benitez is their man. Knows Merseyside, knows how to get fans on side, knows how to win.

    The ban is lifted!

Frank Lampard insists flourishing young talents Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount are “here to stay” despite Chelsea eyeing new Janua ry recruits.

Chelsea saw their FIFA transfer ban lifted on Friday, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld the Blues’ appeal.

The Swiss-based CAS halved Chelsea’s two-window transfer embargo and cut their fine in two as well, leaving the Stamford Bridge club able to recruit next month.

Lampard has admitted he is ready to bolster his squad, but only with genuine quality – and vowed to keep faith with homegrown stars like in-form England men Abraham and Mount.

“The fans won’t lose that feeling for the young players; they won’t lose it because the young players are here to stay, “said Lampard.” And the young players beneath that, if they train well enough and show enough then they’ll get their opportunities because that’s how I am here. ”

    Team news

So like I said, Duncan Ferguson makes two changes to the Everton team that lost away to Liverpool. Theo Walcott and Morgan Scheiderlin replace the injured Yerry Mina and Tom Davies.

Frank Lampard keeps things simple by naming the same line-up that beat Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount all start with former Toffee Ross Barkley on the bench.

Kurt Zouma returns to Goodison Park for the first time since ending his loan spell.

And the team sheets arrive. Just the two changes for Everton with Theo Walcott and Morgan Schneiderlin starting. There’s also an incredible return for Oumar Niasse, who hasn’t been included in a first-team squad since April.

Everton XI: Pickford, Sidibe, Holgate, Keane, Digne, Schneiderlin, Sigurdsson, Walcott, Richarlison, Iwobi, Calvert-Lewin.

Subs: Stekelenburg, Baines, Bernard, Davies, Kean, Niasse, Tosun.

Chelsea XI: Kepa, James, Christensen, Zouma, Azpilicueta, Kante, Kovacic, Willian, Mount, Pulisic, Abraham.

Everton interim boss Duncan Ferguson expects the club t o appoint a “top manager” to replace the sacked Marco Silva.

Everton sacked Silva on Thursday with the club 18 th in the standings having lost nine of their matches and promoted former striker ferguson from the coaching staff for Saturday’s game against fourth-placed Chelsea.

It’s called former Everton boss David Moyes, Carlo Ancelotti and Shanghai SIPG coach Vitor Pereira were among the leading contenders to take over at Goodison Park .

“I think the club will find a real top manager,” Ferguson said. “Of course it’s a dream of mine to be Everton manager, but I’m a coach at the moment. I’m realistic and not thinking about it. I’m a loyal guy and I’d love to stay here to work with the new manager. ”

Hello everyone and welcome to our (LIVE) ******************** (coverage of Everton vs Chelsea from Goodison Park.)

Can I just confirm there’s been no firing or hiring since I rolled out of bed this morning?

Quique Sanchez Flores , Unai Emery and Marco Silva have all been given the ax over the last ten days with sacking season in full swing.

    It’s an epidemic, lads!

But in fairness, losing three fairly low-key personalities and replacing them wit h Duncan Ferguson and Nigel Pearson should make for extremely interesting viewing.

James McArthur should quite rightly be terrified…
