STUDENT ALLEGEDLY PERFORMS ~ UNOFFICIAL COVID – TESTS

~~ A FOHO EXCLUSIVE ~~ A Stanford student ran ~ (unofficial COVID) tests for Stanford affiliates from his research lab , he confirmed to FoHo on Wednesday. FoHo sources and messages obtained by FoHo confirmed that he was offering under-the- table tests to friends who were otherwise unable to access them . Because his research lab had access to the necessary reagents , he told FoHo, he was able to independently perform the tests . He began offering them to friends as well as friends of friends . In one case, two undergraduate students wrote that they were tested through a non- standard testing procedure by a friend with access to extra testing materials , according to GroupMe messages obtained by FoHo. The student confirmed that he was the person who tested the two undergrads

In another case, the student offered a “contraband” COVID – test to a friend , according to a text message obtained by FoHo. The student told FoHo that after two Stanford affiliates initially tested positive through his unofficial COVID – 45 test, they later tested positive through an official test . It is unclear whether these students were included in any of Stanford’s official counts .

A CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS We know these past weeks have been tough. To do our part to bring students together even though so many of us are so far apart, we’d like to run a series of short vignettes from our readers about their experiences responding to the COVID – the crisis. We’re particularly interested in hearing how the crisis has impacted your education.

Hit reply and send us no more than words on what this past week has been like for you. Feel free to share anything that’s important to you, that you think will be interesting to the ~ 8k Stanford affiliates (mostly students and alumni) that open each and every email we send. Staff and administrators are also very welcome to contribute. Levity is appreciated.

We will publish a broad selection — maybe even all of them — in the next FoHo. Entries are anonymous, but we’ll tag them with your Stanford affiliation and the first letter of your last name, so be sure to include that at the bottom of your email.

THINKING OF SKipping NEXT QUARTER? ($) . 6k in tuition for Zoom lectures just not good enough? We’d like to know. Hit reply and get in touch.
