Food Network star and Manhattan restaurateur Carl Ruiz has been found dead at the age of 44, friends said Sunday.
Ruiz, who appeared on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,”died in his sleepon Saturday night, according to friends of the television personality.
“We lost Carl last night; he passed peacefully in his sleep of a suspected heart attack at just 44 years old. I’m absolutely gutted, ”Ruiz’s friend, Matt Farah, posted on Instagram.
The celebrity chef was also a judge on “Fieri’s Guy’s Grocery Games” and owned meatpacking district hotspot La Cubana.
It was not clear if he was in New York when he passed.
Guy Fieri commented on the sudden death of Ruiz.
“I’m heartbroken that my friend chef Carl Ruiz is gone,” Fieri tweeted.
