Presenter Jennifer Aniston said that the Australian actor was at home “protecting his family from devastating bushfires,” but read aloud from a statement Crowe sent.

This is the first win for Youssef, whose

Ricky Gervais returns as host, and so do his scathing jokes All week long, NBC has been pushing the idea that Gervais’s return as Golden Globes host would be unpredictable. He delivered via a series of jokes that took direct aim at the actors and producers assembled in the Beverly Hilton.

Gervais tried to prep the audience for the roast telling them he did care, this would be his last time as Globes host and “remember they’re just jokes. We’re all gonna die soon and there’s no sequel. ”

Here’s a sampling of how he started off the show:- “Kevin Hart was fired from the Oscars for some offensive tweets. There is no question that “Marriage Story” is… not a fun movie. But when asked on the HFPA red carpet why the film’s divorce story is also a love story, Johansson was ready. “What’s so touching about this story… is that it really celebrates the love that remains between two people who have spent 10 years together and have a beautiful child, ”she said. Johansson added that it’s easy to look at divorce as failure, when really, it could also be a celebration of the time people spend together. “I think that’s why audiences are so moved by it.”
