Granit Xhaka has already agreed a deal with Hertha Berlin as he eyes a January move, according to his agent.

Xhaka has been linked with an Arsenal exit since being formally stripped of the Arsenal captaincy in early November.

The departure of Unai Emery and arrival of Mikel Arteta seemed set to hand him a lifeline and he played a key role as they drew 1-1 withBournemouthin Arteta’s first game in charge on Boxing Day .

But Joel Noguera has discussed the future of his client with German outletBLICK, claiming a deal with Hertha Berlin has already been agreed as the club now look to negotiate a fee with Arsenal to complete the move.

Noguera said: “Look, I will say it frankly and honestly, we are in agreement with Hertha BSC and would like to go to Berlin.

“We have told Arsenal’s club boss Raul Sanllehi and sporting director Edu Gaspar, as well as the new coach Mikel Arteta.

“Arsenal was informed about all the steps, the player and Hertha are clear.

” It’s only about the transfer fee of the clubs . “

It is claimed Hertha Berlin have tabled an offer of around £ million for Xhaka, although Arteta suggested during the week he would not look to sell the Swiss midfielder.

He said: “When I was going from (Arsenalto City to start coaching in************************************ and we were looking in that position, Xhaka was one of the players on my list.

“That is how much I liked him. I was happy when Arsenal signed him because I thought he was going to be a terrific player.

“He has done some really good things and now he has got stuck In a very difficult situation that was growing and growing and growing and one day it exploded.

“But I have been amazed by how this relationship is starting to come back , and I think the fans have been very, very positive about him, as he has as well.

“Obviously it is difficult to change completely the scenario from where he was to a magnificent one. But I think we are in the right direction with him. ”

Arteta confirmed he had held talks with Xhaka and added: “I spoke to him and told him how much I like him and what I expect from him. How important he is for the team.

“I am here to help him, I want him to feel we are right behind him. Not just myself but the whole club.

“If we can get the people in the right way as well, the fans with him, it will be helpful for the team.

“I want to give the players confidence, reassurance and guidance. Slowly, hopefully we’ll get to where I want. ”
