Earlier today, Taylor Swift posted alengthy Twitter statementthat essentially accusedScooter Braun and Scott Borchettaof holding her old music hostage unless she conceded to certain demands.
This meant that Taylor’s performance at the American Music Awards – where she had intended to perform a medley of her songs as part of her acceptance of the Artist of the Decade award – had been put at a “question mark” .
As you probably know by now, this is yet another addition to theongoing feudbetween Taylor and Scooter Braun, which started when he purchased Taylor’s former label, Big Machine Records.
Following Taylor’s most recent statement, Swifties from all across the world have been showing their support for the singer under the hashtag #IStandWithTaylor.
Alongside that, Halsey posted this statement to her Instagram which supported Taylor’s actions.
“Not only are we looking at an awful business move … but this is just mean. This is punishment. This is hoping to silence her from speaking about things by dangling this all over her head.”
“These people are protected because they inspire complicity with fear. Banking on the illusion that people will not stand up for her. That the world will say she is overreacting.”
“You’re barking up the wrong tree. It is her grace and patience in these moments that make her Artist of the Decade.”
Halsey also posted a snippet of her singing along to “Mean”, which is one of Taylor’s songs.
In response, fans have been praising Halsey for her openness and honesty in supporting her friend.
While others have called out the silence of other artists in the music industry.
There’s been no update on either Taylor, Scooter or Scott’s front, but we’ll keep you posted of any new developments.
