Harry Baker murder: Police name 21-year-old man wanted in investigation

Police in South Wales investigating the murder of a 17 – year-old boy have named a man they want to speak to in connection with the case.

Officers are looking for 21 – year-old Leon Symons after Harry Baker’s body was found at Barry Docks on Wednesday morning.

South Wales Police have warned the public not to approach Mr Symons, but to instead call 999.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark O’Shea, who is leading the investigation, said: “21 – year-old Leon Symons is from Ely in Cardiff but is known to have contacts in Barry, Rumney and Rhoose.

“We have been making enquiries at properties and areas he is known to frequent and are now appealing to the public for help.

“We would ask him – or anyone who knows him – to please contact South Wales Police or their nearest police station.

“We would very much like to thank the community for the support and information that has already been provided and would urge anyone with information to please get in touch.”

Four men have already been charged with the boy’s murder.

Nathan Delafonteine, 32, of no fixed address, and Raymond Thompson, 47, from Barry, are due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Peter McCarthy, 36, and Ryan Palmer, 33, both from Barry, were also charged with murder and have already appeared at the same court.

Police were called to Barry Intermodal Terminal at 5. 50 am on Wednesday following the discovery of Harry’s body.

Paying tribute to him, his family said: “Life will never be the same again.”

Four other people have been arrested in connection with Harry’s murder.

A 21 – year-old man has been released under investigation after being arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A 22 – year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.

A 38 – year-old woman, previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been released under investigation.

And a 61 – year-old man has been arrested in Barry on suspicion of assisting an offender and remains in custody .
