NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday slammed a “campaign” being run by some asking people ” to stand for 5 minutes in Modi’s honor. ”
“It has been been brought to my attention that some people are running a campaign that to honor Modi stand for 5 minutes. At first glance, it seems like a mischief to drag Modi into controversies, “he tweeted.
Strongly objecting to the campaign, PM Modi said even if the intention is good, he would instead want people to help the poor during the period of coronavirus crisis.

“Maybe someone is doing it out of goodwill, yet I insist that if you really have so much love and want to honor Modi, then take the responsibility of a poor family, at least as long as the #coronavirus crisis exists. There can be no greater honor for me than this, “the PM said in another tweet.
PM Modi’s tweets were in response to an unsigned message circulating online that asked people to give him a standing ovation for five minutes at 5 pm on Sunday for the work he has been doing for the nation.
