Ian WrighthopesArsenalwaste no time in appointing Mikel Arteta as manager as he believes the Spaniard has what it takes to succeed at the Emirates – and has done for some time.

Arsenal are set to announce Arteta’s arrival in the next (hours and the) – year-old is expected to be in dugout for the side’s clash withEvertonat Goodison Park this weekend.

The Gunners have been in disarray both on and off the field this season, with the club languishing down in 10 th in the table, and Freddie Ljungberg has failed to steady the ship as (Unai Emery’s temporary replacement.

However, Arsenal are confident Arteta can steer the team he once captained out of trouble despite his lack of experience in top-level management.

Manchester City have been unhappy with the nature of Arsenal’s approach but the Premier League champions have refused to stand in the way of Pep Guardiola’s assistant and his ’dream’ job.

Arteta first held talks to take charge at Arsenal in the summer of 2018 Before the club chose to hire his compatriot Emery instead – and we all know how that ended.

At the time, it was clear who Wright felt should succeed Arsene Wenger as he toldMatch of the Day: ‘I quite like the feel of Mikel Arteta. You’ve got to take a chance on people. We took a chance on Wenger.

‘I think he’s someone that knows the club, he’s been under Guardiola for a couple of years and seen what he’s been doing.

‘A couple of those players need a kick up the backside and I think he might be the man to do it.’

On Thursday morning, Wright retired the clip one clear message: ‘Same energy 2019 !! Get it done Arsenal. ’

Arsenal fan @iam_henrico disagreed with Wright on Arsenal’s ideal managerial candidate as he feels Arteta lacks the experience to earn the respect of Arsenal’s dressing room.

‘This is the worst gamble I have see mostArsenal p

layers will not respect or listen to him as Arsenalmanager because most of them play with him in the club, ‘@iam_henrico said.

‘Bring in [Mauricio]

Pochettino******************* (This is******) ArsenalWe are talking about not a Championship team or EPL team just playing not to relegated. ‘

Wright immediately replied: ‘To be honest I don’t care what the players think – with my chest !!!!!!!’

Tony Cascarino has urged Arteta to offload as many as five players – including Aubameyang, Lacazette, Ozil, David Luiz and Shkodran Mustafi – when he takes over the reins from interim head coach Ljungberg.

‘The biggest challenge he will face is dealing with the senior players,’ he toldThe Times.

‘I remember when Ron Atkinson came into Aston Villa, he said to me immediately:“ I have agreed a fee with Celtic for you. ”

‘That is how Arteta should approach it, starting with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, David Luiz, Mesut Ozil and Shkodran Mustafi.’

Cascarino added: ‘With Fernandinho’s contract due to expire at the end of the season, Arteta could bring him in from City to demonstrate to Arsenal’s players what it takes to be a success.

‘I don’t even think he needs to give them a reason, he just needs to say,“ If I find a buyer, you’re gone. ”

‘Lacazette has been a decent performer but Arteta will want a player who doesn’t sulk, and he could sell him for a big fee.

‘It may seem drastic, but that is what Arsenal need.’
