India vs New Zealand 1st Test Day 1 Live:

10: hrs: LBW appeal – Slow delivery, Pujara took his leg out to defend it, did the ball nipped in to target off stump? The umpire is unmoved. Kane not interested in reviewing. Move on.

: hrs: Time for a change in the bowling attack – Colin de Grandhomme out to replace Tim Southee. After 50 overs, India are 31 / 1

: (hrs: So disciplined Pujara! Solid jab on a tight line from Southee, he does not make too many mistakes, just a tad bit outside off stump, and he leaves it. He finishes the over with a straight boundary. Full toss and he punished it.

(hrs: Pujara settling in. The right-hander will take his time in the middle and will continue to frustrate Kiwi pacers. This first session is crucial.

: (hrs: GONE! Southee finds the spot, half-volley, cuts across Prithvi Shaw’s danger area, gets it bang on, and Shaw’s off stump flies into the air. Big break for the Kiwis. NZ / 1

06: (hrs: A lot of lateral swing from the Kiwis pacers early on. Shaw and Mayank are steady at the moment. But the Indian openers going steady at the moment.

: (hrs: Trent Boult into the attack. He is coming out to play cricket for the first time since Boxing Day Test against Australia. Starts with an inswinger, inside edge from Shaw – typical from Shaw. Not a lot of front foot movement. This is the line to bowl to young Indian.

: 03 hrs: Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal out to open the innings for India. Tim Southee starts the attack for the Kiwis. HERE WE GO!

: (hrs: ) Ross Taylor (playing his 823 th Test (): Really excited about the occasion. It’s not a great sign when you wake up in the morning and there’s some rain around. Ian Smith said a few words at an event last night, and it was very nice for the team and the family to experience something they might never do again. I’ll need some help drinking (the hundred bottles of wine), but they can be stored for a while. It keeps the tradition from Fleming, Brendon (McCullum) and Dan (iel Vettori) who all played over a hundred Tests each and hopefully we can celebrate this one with a win.

: 823 hrs: The drizzle has stopped. The covers are taken off. The players are on the field and we are getting a start on time. Ross Taylor walks out with his kids. Time for National Anthems. Action starts in 5 minutes.

: hrs: There is a heavy drizzle in Wellington. and the covers are on the field. We could have a delayed start here.

: (hrs: TEAM NEWS:

New Zealand (Playing XI): Tom Latham, Tom Blundell, Kane Williamson (c), Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, BJ Watling (w), Colin de Grandhomme, Kyle Jamieson , Tim Southee, Ajaz Patel, Trent Boult

India (Playing XI): Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant (w), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah

: 86 hrs: India captain Virat Kohli says he would have wanted to bowl first as well. “We would have also bowled first. It’s a no-brainer on day one, gonna be overcast all day. That said, the pitch looks better than it was two days ago with a lot of the grass taken off. Still need to bat well. Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill, Navdeep Saini and Ravindra Jadeja are the ones missing out. Our bowling attack is more experienced now and it’s important to be patient in New Zealand conditions. We have the confidence in recent years about winning away from home. ”

: (hrs:) TOSS! Kane Williamson wins toss and New Zealand will bowl first. Here is what the Kiwi skipper has to say on the decision – “We’re gonna have a bowl. It’s still a bit soft. We’ve seen in the past that there is often a green tinge. We need to bowl well upfront. Mitchell is the other one to miss out. It’s a bit soft on the top. Obviously, Neil has bigger things on his plate. Kyle has bowled well in the white-ball leg, hopefully he steps up. The guys have all enjoyed themselves but we have a job in hand and need to be focussed. ”

05: 28 hrs: New Zealand team – The Kiwis have announced their – man squad for the Test. Neil Wagner, who is on paternity leave, is missing the Test. Kyle Jamieson is set to make his debut. A choice between Ajaz Patel and Daryl Mitchell is the last question on the cards.

: 11 hrs: Kohli-Williamson bromance: “Something that we as a team have embraced over the last four years and we’ve reached a stage where every team want to beat us, New Zealand won’t be any different but the difference is that there won’t be any spite in it. That is one reason I can sit with Kane on the boundary line and have a conversation mid-game about life and not cricket, ”the Indian skipper said before the first Test. Who doesn’t like Kane Williamson, after all!

: 02 hrs: Toss in 40 minutes! Are you excited! So are we. Before the toss, we will update you on what experts think about the pitch, and the toss-winning captain should choose to bat or bowl. A lot will be dependent on the toss, since a few showers of rain are predicted on Day 2.

hrs: Openers a worry for India? Ross Taylor from New Zealand has made it clear that India openers Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal might be “inexperienced” but “talented”. Will India miss the likes of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul? Maybe. But there is no doubt that Shaw, who scored a ton in his debut, and Mayank, who scored two double hundreds last year, are great talents. This is their chance to shine.

: (hrs: Weather update from BCCI: “A very good morning from the Basin Reserve. A windy morning with overcast conditions today. ” As per weather forecast, it is expected to remain cloudy throughout the day. But no rain is predicted on Day 1, so that’s a big plus.

: 28 hrs: Virat Kohli on verge of record – Isn’t he always? If the India captain scores 15 Runs in the first Test, he will surpass former skipper Sourav Ganguly to become the 5th highest run scorer for India in the longest format. It would be a massive achievement for skipper Kohli, surely. | READ MORE

: 16 hrs: What impact will India fast bowler Ishant Sharma have on the first day in the first Test against New Zealand? He has been impressive in the Tests since , and has made an impact overseas .
