iOS 13.1.1 and iOS 13.1.2: Apple takes an aggressive update cadence to clean up iOS 13, Ars Technica

        

Today, Apple released iOS and iPadOS 13 1.2, as well as watchOS 6.0.1. All of the updates are focused on bug fixes.

The iOS release fixes an issue that prevented Bluetooth connectivity, plus others that stopped the Camera app and the flashlight from functioning in certain situations . Both the iOS and iPadOS updates fixed a bug that left a progress bar still visible after iCloud Backup completed its task. The updates also righted another issue affecting shortcuts on HomePods.

Here are Apple’s update notes for iOS 1.2)

(iOS) .1.2 includes bug fixes and improvements for your iPhone. This update:

• Fixes a bug where the progress bar for iCloud Backup could continue to show after a successful backup
• Fixes an issue where Camera may not work
• Addresses an issue where the flashlight may not activate
• Fixes a bug that could result in a loss of display calibration data
• Fixes an issue where shortcuts could not be run from HomePod
• Addresses an issue where Bluetooth may disconnect on certain vehicles

And the separate notes for iPadOS 1.2:

iPadOS 13 .1.2 includes bug fixes and improvements for your iPad. This update:

• Fixes a bug where the progress bar for iCloud Backup could continue to show after a successful backup
• Fixes an issue where shortcuts could not be run from HomePod

Finally, here are the notes for watchOS 6.0.1:

watchOS 6.0.1 optimizes performance, provides security updates, and contains improvements and bug fixes, including:

• Resolves an issue where the Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse watch face does not speak time
• Addresses an issue where the calendar complication may not display events
• Fixes a bug that could result in a loss of display calibration data

Just this past Friday, Apple released iOS and iPadOS 13 1.1, a small bug-fix update that repaired a security problem for third-party keyboard applications whereby those apps could get permissions before users had given them; an issue that precluded iPhones from restoring from backups in some cases; and an issue affecting battery life. The update also included minor bug fixes for Apple’s own apps like Safari and Reminders.

Apple doesn’t usually release so many updates in rapid succession. iOS 13 only launched 11 days ago, and it has already received three updates. As we noted in our review of iOS 13, it’s a major and ambitious update compared to last year iOS 12, but iOS 13 has had a relatively rocky beta period and a number of kinks still need to be ironed out even after today’s update.
