Jacob Rees-Mogg has admitted that reclining on the front bench of the House of Commons while taking questions was a mistake.
Pictures of the leader of the House went viral after he lay sprawled while taking MPs’ questions. When asked last night whether this was acceptable behavior, Mr Rees-Mogg replied: “In hindsight I think not.”
He told aDaily Telegraphevent that historically ministers rested their feet on the table and he was “restoring an ancient tradition”. He added, however: “I do accept it was a mistake.”
He said that he was trying to sit comfortably but it was not worth “distracting from the importance of what was going on”.
Mr Rees-Mogg has been criticized by both sides of the House for his supine posture.…
