The teen was rushed to hospital but doctors were unable to reattach his hand.

Vicious Ambe was yesterday jailed for 15 years behind bars for the horrific attack – with Judge Michael Kay saying it was a “story of our times”.

Judge Kay told the court: “It is not society that is at fault. It is your parents and family – the way you have been brought up and accustomed to as a young man, which is chaos and violence.

“You have been involved in a world of violence. Your violence is escalating.

“You post a high risk of harm to others and the risk of further offences is imminent. It is because you know of no other world.

“You are a very angry young man and when you are angry you turn to violence. You are a story of our times.”

The attack unfolded in Abbots Langley, Herts, on the night of February 10.

St Albans Crown Court heard how Tyler was walking home from the shops with a friend with Ambe drove towards him on a moped.

A Hertfordshire Constabulary spokesperson said the three men knew each other “but did not get on”.

They added: “Subsequently, the victim and his friend ran away but Ambe came off his bike and chased them, armed with a bladed article.

“The victim fell as he tried to run away and Ambe caught up with him and cut his hand off. The victim’s friend managed to run back home and, after Ambe fled the scene, the victim was also able to run to the home for safety.

“Police were called and an officer who attended the scene found the victim’s severed hand. Officers searched the area and located and arrested Ambe shortly afterwards.”

Ambe, of Watford, Herts., Was sentenced yesterday at St Albans Crown Court after being found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm on August 12.

Detective Constable Steve Mason said: “I hope that Ambe spends his time behind bars reflecting on the pain and misery he has inflicted on the victim.

“This was a vicious incident which highlights the dangers of carrying knives.

“Hertfordshire Constabulary is committed to tackling knife crime so I hope this case provides reassurance to the public that we will do all we can to bring knife crime offenders to justice.”
