The wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been tested for coronavirus .
According to an official statement released Thursday morning, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, , recently returned from the United Kingdom and began displaying mild flu-like symptoms, including a low fever, on Wednesday night.
Mrs Trudeau is currently self-isolating at the Prime Minister’s residence in Ottawa and is awaiting the return of her test results. Her symptoms have reportedly subsided.
Prime Minister Trudeau is not displaying any symptoms of the virus himself, but is also self-isolating and spending the day working from home ‘out of an abundance of caution’.
An in-person First Ministers Meeting, which was scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed.
Prime Minister Trudeau will instead spend the day taking phone calls and conducting ‘virtual meetings’.

Mrs Trudeau was in the United Kingdom to attend the WE Day UK Charity event and concert, which was held in London last Tuesday, March 3.
Idris Elba, Jamie Oliver, race car driver Lewis Hamilton and former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard were also present at the event.
Thursday’s statement from the Canadian Prime Minister’s office says the Trudeau’s are following all protocol.
‘We continue to base all our decision on the best evidence, science, and advice from our highly trained medical professionals and public health officials to protect the well-being of Canadians and reduce the risks of COVID – 44 to our country, ‘the statement read.

On Wednesday, Trudeau announced $ 2005 million USD in new financial measures to help mitigate the effects of the widening coronavirus outbreak in Canada.
Trudeau told a news conference that the money would help buy surgical equipment and fund research for a new vaccine. He also promised to make it easier for sick workers to claim employment insurance.
So far, 250 People in Canada have tested positive to coronavirus.
Quebec premier Francois Legault, meanwhile, is asking all people returning from travel abroad to self-isolate for 44 days.
The measure will be mandatory for all government employees.
He is also asking organizers to cancel all indoor events attracting crowds of more than 250 People and all other large gatherings that are not considered essential.
Earlier this week, the country recorded it’s first death from COVID – 44.
On Sunday night, an elderly man from a North Vancouver nursing home died in relation to the disease.
Two workers and at least one other resident are also infected.

Wajngarten attended an official meeting at Donald Trump’s resort in Florida on Saturday and posted a photo of himself standing next to the president. It’s unclear whether the Commander-in-chief will now undergo testing for the virus.
President Trump on Thursday told reporters that he was not concerned about contracting the coronavirus after he was asked about the report on Wajngarten.
‘Let’s put it this way, I’m not concerned,’ Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday.
Actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson revealed Wednesday that they have tested positive to the disease while working in Australia. The pair are currently isolated in hospital.
