It is safe to say that Liverpool have started this Premier League season as they left the last one.
Their failure to overhaul Manchester City during the epic 2018 / 19 title race certainly hasn’t produced a hangover for Jurgen Klopp and his players, who have won their opening six games of this season to open up a five-point lead at the top of the table.
That will become eight if they can beat Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday, when a 16 th straight Premier League victory could be achieved.
Beating Chris Wilder’s side would be no easy feat though, and neither would setting the Premier League record for the most successive wins as some tough tests lie ahead of the Reds.
In purely Premier League terms, after the Blades Klopp’s side face a home game with (Leicester) , a trip to Manchester United and then they host Tottenham. They’ll need to win all four if they want to be Premier League record-breakers.

Liverpool are no strangers to a winning Premier League run, but their 11 straight successes in the latter months of the 2013 / 14 season weren’t enough to seal top-flight success, as they infamously lost 2- 0 at home toChelsea.

They beat Birmingham 2-0 in their opening game of 2002 / 03 before being held to a 2-2 draw at West Ham.

In the best Premier League title race there’s ever been, Manchester City needed consistent excellent to see off the challenge of Liverpool, who ended last season on 97 points – one fewer than Pep Guardiola’s side.
City’s run came to an end in their 2-2 draw at home to Tottenham at the start of this season when VAR denied them a late winner.
Liverpool, meanwhile, go to Sheffield United having won their first six games of this season to go with their last nine of 2018 / 19.
