Madden NFL 20 Carries Over July Success to August
Madden NFL’syearly successcomes down to a stroke of perfect timing (nudged between the highs of E3 and the flurry of Fall releases), a voracious American market, and no competing football sim to knock it off the top spot.
This dominance is unlikely to carry over into September, as Madden NFL 20 squares off with the anticipated release of heavy hitters Gears 5 and Borderlands 3 alongside the usual deluge of (EA) Sports titles like FIFA 20, NHL 20, and 2K’s NBA 2K 20 that draw huge player in
Nevertheless, two months running is no small feat and goes to show just how popular the franchise remains despite introducing very few new features and offering very much the same package as last year Madden NFL 19.
Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto V Remain Top Sellers
According to the postpublishedon Sony’s PlayStation blog portal revealing August’s top downloads, Madden NFL 20 is in good company.
Evergreen sellers Minecraft and Grand Theft Auto V took the second and third spots, respectively. And this despite launching way back in 2014 inMinecraft’scase and 2013 in Grand Theft Auto V’s case. The two titles systematically land near the upper half of the chart month after month, a testament to their popularity and ongoing relevance.
One surprise is Star Wars Battlefront II landing the 16 th spot, thanks presumably to a well-received, and not say much needed, update to the game.
Newcomers and updated titles didn’t fare too badly either. No Man’s Sky’s highly anticipated VR-enabled Beyond update catapulted the space fairing adventure to the 15 th spot, while The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan made the top 20 in its first month of release.
