A 25 – year-old man has been charged with murder after “devoted” grandmother was found dead in her home.
Marlene McCabe, 71, had suffered “serious head and facial injuries” before her body was found at her residence in Blackpool on Wednesday evening.
She was pronounced dead and a suspect was arrested at the scene after police and paramedics were called to the home at about 6pm.
Police said the cause of death was head injuries.
Conor Clarkson, of Blackpool, was charged with murder on Friday night and has been remanded to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Co urt on Saturday morning.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: “A man has been charged by detectives with the murder of Marlene McCabe.
“Police were called around 6pm on Wednesday (September 4) to an address on West Park Drive.
“Emergency services attended with the body of a woman found inside the property.
” Marlene McCabe, 71, from Blackpool, had suffered serious head and facial injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“A Home Office post mortem examination has been carried out and a cause of death of head injuries has been given.

Her family said in a previous statement that they were “devastated” following her “tragic” death.
The family said: “Marlene was a kind, caring mother and devoted Granny who will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
