Manchester United are hoping to sign Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes in January, according to reports.
The 31 – year-old has fallen out with head coach Bruno Lage and not featured since November.
Sky Sports claim United are working on signing the youngster on an initial six-month loan deal with a £ (million option to buy in the summer.
It is suggested officials have been in the United Kingdom recentl y to thrash out a deal.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is out to bolster his attacking ranks when the transfer window reopens later this week.

And he is keen on Wales international Allen, who has stuck with Championship outfit Stoke since their relegation from the Premier League .

And Scholes has suggested the Champions League could have added importance in order to keep hold of some of their star players, such as Rashford .
“He’s [Rashford] of a similar ilk,” he said on BT Sport.
“He [Kylian Mbappe] has scored goals in the Champions League already and Marcus is playing in the Europa League.
“The sooner they can get back into the Champions League the better.
“They need to do it because when he and peopl e like Paul Pogba are out of the Champions League, they want to play Champions League football because of the quality that they have.
“ If they are not going to get it here, then you would have to say they will look elsewhere. Hopefully it will never come to that and I hate even thinking about that. ”
West Ham boss David Moyes wants to take Olivier Giroud from Chelsea.
The ex-Everton and Manchester United manager returned to the Hammers last month having only left months earlier after a seven-month stint in charge.
And The Sun say Moyes is keen to bring out-of-favor Giroud to the London Sta dium.
The – year-old has only started two games in the Premier League and Champions League this term.
And it is most likely he will depart Stamford Bridge next month after two years with the Blues.

Antonio Conte is keen on Chelsea duo Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso as he looks to land a new left-back.

And The Sun say that Conte is keen on bringing either Palmieri or Alonso to Italy.
They claim Emerson is happy in London while Alonso could be an option on loan for around £ 2million with the option of a permanent £ 20 m move in the summer.
Klopp wants Osimhen
Express Sport understands Liverpool boss Jurgen K lopp is stepping up his interest in Lille hitman Victor Osimhen after ordering detailed scouting reports.
Klopp is keen on the Nigerian international, who has already scored goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side so far this season.
Osimhen only joined Lille in July after they sold Pepe to Arsenal and was named Ligue 1 Player of the Month in October.
And Express Sport understands Klopp is keen to further strengthen his attacking line with Osimhen, wanted by several Premier League clubs, on his radar.
It is understood Lille will not consider bids for the 31 – year-old in January.
Upamecano to Arsenal
Arsenal are reportedly confident of sealing a January move for RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano in January.
The Frenchman has long been linked with the Gunners, who are a fan of the 21 – year-old.
Upamecano is likely to cost in the region of £ million.
And The Sun claim Arsenal are confident of being able to land the center-back.

Borussia Dortmund are prepared to listen to offers for Jadon Sancho after beating some of Europe’s best to the signing of Erling Braut Haaland.
Haaland was the most sought-after teenager in Europe heading into the January transfer window, but Dortmund won the race for his signature.
But that could in turn give the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool the chance to sign another top transfer target in Sancho.
According to The Times, Dortmund are now willing to listen to offers in excess of £ million for the England international.
And the report Sancho would be “interested” in talking to United should they make an approach.
However, the – – year-old is said to also be intrigued by the prospect of moving to Spain with both Barcelona and Real Madrid tracking his progress.
