Manchester United supporters were livid after Daniel James was allowed to continue playing during Wales’ match against Croatia on Sunday evening despite appearing to be knocked out after a nasty collision.

James was out cold when Domagoj Vida attacked a high ball with him and struck James in the head, leaving him sprawled out on the floor.

Two members of the medical staff quickly ran onto the pitch to attend to the former Swansea man, but thankfully he got to his feet and was able to make his way off the field.

Much to the chagrin of United supporters, however, he then played on, despite worries that doing so could cause further damage.

With United facing a huge match against bitter rivalsLiverpoolafter the international break on October 20, the last thing they need is another injury, especially to arguably one of their best players so far this season.

James has scored three times in ten games for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side since his move from the Swans in the summer, and has been one of the most threatening-looking players in a United team which has often struggled for goals.

Football has seen a number of worrying collision incidents recently, and one of the most high-profile was that of Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen.

The Belgian defender was left with blood pouring from his face after a clash of heads in a game against Ajax. After leaving the pitch he returned to the field soon after, but it soon became apparent that he was in no fit state to continue, and he was eventually substituted.

Mason was forced to retire in 2017 when he fractured his skull againstChelsea, and posted on (Twitter) saying: “Daniel James was just knocked unconscious! Yet 3 minutes later he has been allowed back onto the pitch.”
