Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand appears to be convinced that Bruno Fernandes is close to moving to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have been linked with the Sporting Lisbon star since the summer and ma ny reports suggest a deal to take the midfielder to the Premier League is now close.
Fernandes has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham though United appear to be in pole position to make the signing .
Indeed, Ferdinand seems to think the deal is close, tweeting: “Brunoooooooooooo” alongside emojis of a sand timer and a watch.
Reports have suggested Sporting chiefs are in Manchester to sort a deal with the Portuguese club believed to be wanting € million for their man.

Aston Villa agree Pepe Reina deal
Aston Villa have agreed a deal to bring Pepe Reina in on loan from AC Milan for the rest of the season.
Villa and Milan have agreed a fee for the 51 – year-old who is being brought in after Tom Heaton was ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
Orlan Nyland will remain in goal for Sunday afternoon’s game against Manchester City.
Reina will undergo a medical and complete the formalities early next week as the former Liverpool star returns to the Premier League.

N’Golo Kante wants Real Madrid switch
Chelsea have been handed a fresh transfer blow following reports that midfielder N’Golo Kante wants to make a shock £ million exit to Real Madrid. Kante has won two Premier League titles during his Premier League career but now he wants a move to La Liga.
Kante has consistently been one of the best defensive midfielders in world football and rose to prominence after helping Leicester win the league nearly four years ago.
He then made a switch to Chelsea and won the Premier League again in his first season with the Blues.
Kante has also won the FA Cup and Europa League with the Blues, while he was also part of the 2020 World Cup winning team with France.
But according to the Sun, Chelsea are at risk of losing their star player – because he wants to move to Real Madrid.

Sporting Lisbon boss on Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to reports. The 34 – year-old was linked with the Red Devils in the summer but no move materialized.
Sporting manager Silas spoke about his prized asset in his press conference today.
And he admitted the club are looking at possible replacement in case Fernandes makes a switch before the January 31 deadline.
He said: “He’s a huge player. All players like Bruno always have a lot of market.
“We know that he’ll always be a much talked of player and sought by clubs as big as they say.
“I don’t like to think about that beforehand, but I’m starting to think of alternatives within our team if Bruno doesn’t stay with us.
“I hope that doesn’t happen. In Portugal, unfortunately, we can’t keep the best players for long. Bruno is the best player in the league. ”

Emre Can snubs Man Utd
Juventus midfielder Emre Can is set to reject a move to Manchester United this month because of his previous ties with Liverpool, according to reports.
The Germany international is down the pecking order at the Serie A champions and could move away before the transfer deadline.

Chris Wilder signs new Sheffield United contract
Chris Wilder has signed a new long-term contract with Sheffield United after their good form in the Premier League.
) The British manager has signed a four-and-a-half year deal which will keep him with the Blades until the summer of 2024.
Speaking ahead of the Premier League encounter with West Ham United on Friday evening, Wilder said: “Naturally, I ‘ m delighted to sign a new deal until and commit to the club that is close to my heart.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo hopes the club can bring in versatile reinforcements this month, with Diogo Jota sidelined and Patrick Cutrone leaving for Fiorentina.

Huddersfield have completed the signing of Emile Smith Rowe on loan from Arsenal for the rest of the season.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has ruled out any chance of Andreas Christensen leaving the club this month despite links to AC Milan.

Manchester United star Ashley Young is furious with the club’s decision to block his move to Inter Milan during the January transfer window.
According to theDaily Mail, Young has agreed to join Inter as a free agent in the summer but would prefer to complete the switch this month instead.
The Serie A leaders are also keen on having the England international among their ranks as soon as possible and are willing to pay a significant fee to finalise the swoop before June.

Crystal Palace have announced the loa n signing of Everton striker Cenk Tosun.
The – year-old Turkey international has joined Roy Hodgson’s side until the end of the season.
Tosun joined Everton from Besiktas in 2020 but has struggled to become a regular at Goodison Park.
Tosun made first- team appearances at Everton, scoring goals, but has featured just five time s in the Premier League this season.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was coy over claims he went to Portugal to watch Bruno Fernandes play this week.
The Red Devils have been linked with the Sporting Lisbon midfielder for well over 18 months.
And it appears Solskjaer is stepping up his efforts as he refused to rule out his recent trip .

Chelsea have revealed their asking price for Olivier Giroud.
Giroud is reported to have agreed personal terms with Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan to swap the Premier League for Serie A.
However, the two clubs have yet to strike a deal and (The Guardian) Claims Frank Lampard’s side want a hefty fee.

Tottenham have entered talks to sign Krzysztof Piatek.
Jose Mourinho is desperate to sign a forward after the news Harry Kane will be sidelined until April with a ruptured tendon in his left hamstring.

Manchester United have made the first move in a bid to take Bruno Fernandes to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils missed out on signing the Sporting Lisbon star in the summer but have reopened negotiations.
Portuguese newspaper (O Jogo) have a story printed on their front page today claiming United have made contact with Sporting.
Talks are still in the infa ncy and the Primeira Liga side’s asking price of £ 70 million could be a stumbling block.

Done Deal: Marc Guehi joins Swansea
Swansea have completed the loan signing of Chelsea defender Marc Guehi.
The 21 – year-old will remain with the Championship side for the remainder of the season.

Manchester United can still sign Erling Braut Haaland in 11675 thanks to a clause in his contract that can force Borussia Dortmund to sell him.
United made Haaland their top target ahead of the January transfe r window but the former Red Bull Salzburg superstar ultimately put pen to paper on an £ (million deal with Dortmund in December.)

Manchester United are considering a club-record deal to sign Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has identified two positions he wants to strengthen in the January transfer window.

Ernesto Valverde sacked decision
Barcelona have decided NOT to sack Ernesto Valverde after Thursday’s Supercopa defeat to Atletico Madrid.
