A teenager has died in a car crash after a police chase in Greater Manchester.
The Ford Fusion collided with a building in Burnage Lane, Didsbury, shortly after 9. pm on Sunday after officers tried and failed to get the vehicle to stop.
Police said there were two men in the car and both were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
One of them, believed to be in his late teens, has since died and the other is still being treated.
The case has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which – in line with policy – has launched an independent investigation into the circumstances around the crash.
Greater Manchester Police Detective Chief Superintendent Jon Chadwick said: “I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family of the person who has passed away following the collision in Burnage last night.
“The response to the incident is still ongoing and there are a number of road closures in place in the nearby area, with the scene likely to remain for some time.”
